Chapter 4: Chicken Noodle Soup

Saturday was Dance Competition Day at our House. These always seem to be the kind of days that you are so happy when they are done, but you enjoy them none the less. Although the competition was not going to be until 1:45, Kennadee's cousin Makayla was getting baptized in Salt Lake at 10:00 so needless to say, we were up early. The process of preparing Kennadee's hair for her performances is enough to make anyone cry (and often one of us does). She has amazingly thick and stick straight hair, so it usually takes a minimum of 45 mins. to curl it, and I have to use gel, curl enhancer and alot of hairspray to make sure it lasts through the dance. After the baptism and lunch, we (meaning myself, Kennadee and her cousin Morgan) were off to Roy for the Competition. WOW!!!! I don't know if any of you have ever been involved with competitions but Holy Cow, I usually have to stop and take a few deep breaths before entering the building. Finding where we are supposed to be and then starting the process of dressing, make-up, extra hairspray and using an entire pakage of bobby pins to hold her hat up is a little wearing, especially when you find out that they will not be doing their dance until 3:03, aughhhhhh!!! I guess this is the time that you thank heavens that you left your husband and 3 other kids home. Her competition was at Roy High School and I don't know about you guys but I seem to have forgotten that the benches in High Schools are extra hard and extra small, so comfort is not an option. Okay so just a few things about Kennadee's dance; it is 17 mins. long, she is one of 5 groups that perform and they perform 3-4 times throughout the 17 mins.. It is a Fantastic show, with around 150 girls in total. During the performance Morgan, kept telling me she was so excited for the Chicken Noodle Soup, having no idea what she was talking about, you can imagine my surprise when during Kennadee's performance the song she was dancing to was "Chicken Noodle Soup", who knew; I guess there is a song for everything. Kennadee was incredible, she really comes out of her shell on the dance floor and I just LOVE to watch her. Her Dance Group took 2nd overall, way to go Kennadee. Oh and as a side note I just found out that Kennadee was chosen for student of the month for March, Good Job Sis.

Chapter 3: "He just writes about mystical creatures, he really isn't one." said the Mom.

So yesterday was quite the adventure for my kids; they got to meet someone of importance. I picked them up from school at 2:00 p.m. they knew not of where we were heading, a lot of questions were asked, a lot of questions were ignored:). It took 42.7 minutes to arrive at our destination. All the kids noticed were the two cop cars sitting in the parking lot, all the mom hoped for was that the line was not to long. After exiting the car we hurried into the bookstore, it was then they saw what we must be there for, the 4th book in the Fablehaven series. When we made our purchase (all 4 books in hardcover) we got into line, the kids asked why there was a line, and to their surprise I said that the author Brandon Mull was going to be there today to autograph books. Zachary was sooooooo excited, he and I have been reading Fablehaven for a while now and although we are only 1/2 way through the second book they quickly became favorites. Bradley was just so thrilled at meeting a real life author, he kept telling me that his belly felt funny. Kennadee just wanted to make sure that she got the book with the cutest cover for him to sign for her and little Lainee just wanted snacks. As our turn arrived, the excitement of the kids was overwhelming, he not only signed their books, posed for a picture, and answered questions, but he also signed posters and bookmarks for all (that became a treasure, because they didn't have to pay for those) Score!!!! It was a really fun afternoon for me, and I know that they will have this memory for a while to come.

Chapter 2: Just me and them.

Well I am going to be a little selfish and focus on Me today. As one of my first blogs I just wanted to express my thoughts and feelings on the most important thing in my life; Motherhood. First off I have to say that although there are those days and they do seem to come more often than not, but in spite of that, I LOVE, LOVE being a Mom. My kids are the most awesome people in the world. They all have such varying personalities, (some more than one, but that is for another day!!) they all have the most wonderful smiles, and they are all dramatic (which can be good or bad, depending). Bradley is the funniest kid ever, he is a great story teller. He sometimes has me laughing so hard that I am bawling, and he hasn't even told me the story, he is leading me into the story. Kennadee is always willing to be my girlfriend, we love to go to lunch or go to a book store, or watch High School Musical 1, 2 or 3 and sing our hearts out.
Although Zachary is way past the snuggling age, he stills lets me cuddle with him as he is reading me his school book. He is very lively and his laugh is very infectious. And then there is always Little Lainee, she is a bundle of energy, literally. She is all about changing her clothes 10 times a day, wearing all of Kennadee's clothes while she is at school, and making messes and conveniently forgetting that she made the mess. All these things combined with Dance class, piano, soccer, karate, homework, reading, and making sure dinner is on the table at a reasonable hour, I still love the fact that I get to see these 4 beautiful kids grow, learn and discover new things everyday. What more could I ask for...............................................(okay a few things, no fighting, no back-talking, wanting to practice piano or waking up in a great mood every morning.) But hey; who's complaining:)
