You know you find yourself going along, just going about your day and then suddenly that one moment in time comes and changes your life.
Today I was in Salt Lake with all my kids and I took them out to lunch, after eating we all piled back into the truck, when to Lainee's dismay she realized that she had forgotten her purse inside the restaurant. I asked Bradley to go back in and grab her purse, he got out and went back in and at first glance couldn't see it, so he came back to the truck, I asked if he could go and check one more time so he turned right around and went to run back and check.....as I watched him run across the parking lot, a car came into my view and with a screeeeeech of his brakes I watched as Bradley jumped with fright and saw as the car came to a stop just inches away from him. I know I stopped breathing and I felt my heart stop and then speed up so fast I thought it would jump right out of my chest. Zacky, Kennadee and Lainee were all watching Bradley as well, and I think we all had the same reaction and thought "Holy Crap" did we just see what we thought we just saw? Zachary asked me why I made that weird sound, and I honestly don't remember making any sound. After Bradley got back in the car and we talked about it for a while, since I couldn't drive and Bradley was understandably upset, Zachary said "Mom, my tummy still feels funny", I told him that is what happens when you see something that could hurt someone you love. Bradley is very lucky, I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father and Bradley's Guardian Angels for protecting him from something that could have had a much different outcome. In that one moment in time, I remembered everything about my son that makes him one of the most precious things in my life and I hope I will have many, many, many more years to make memories with him.
Oh and never fear, Bradley did get Lainee's purse back for her (what a brother!)
Sheesh! My heart stopped for a moment when I thought you were going to post that he had been run over!!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness not!
You're such a good mom to talk to him about it. That happened to me at Yellowstone park and mom scolded me and sent me to the car. I would probably do the same thing with my kids because it's scary, but I could have used a hug too.
